5 Best Income Stocks To Watch Right Now

As Dan notes, with large drops in revenue expected in the current quarter, several companies in the industry have already been forced to cut their dividends dramatically, and further cuts could come in the near future if prospects for the industry don't rebound quickly. Dan concludes with some guidance on what to look for in assessing whether the industry can avoid further problems down the road and how price increases in ETFs SPDR Gold (NYSEMKT: GLD  ) and iShares Silver (NYSEMKT: SLV  ) could help companies sustain their dividends.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Jim Royal]

The latest buy for my Special Situations portfolio is Ryman Hospitality (NYSE: RHP  ) . The company operates four of the top 10 largest convention hotels in the U.S., and it converted to a REIT late last year, making it more likely to trade for a higher multiple. In March, I bought $2,000 of the stock, and it has since done little but go down. But Ryman is a solid company with premier properties that deserves to trade at a premium to peers, rather than a steep discount. So I'm adding another $1,000 to my position.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Sean Williams]

Analytic data solutions provider Teradata (NYSE: TDC  ) jumped 2.7% on this shortened session following positive comments from Paul Meeks of Saturna Capital on CNBC yesterday. Meeks referred to Teradata in his on-air interview as his pick in the big data analytic space. As usual, I would suggest taking analyst comments with a grain of salt because they are often short-term drivers of stock prices. In this case, though, I do agree with Mr. Meeks. Teradata has plenty of cash on hand to continue investing in its products, and it's perfectly positioned to take advantage of the ongoing move into the cloud and big data centers.
