Baird Grabs 7 Reps With $970M as Janney Adds New Manager

Baird said it recruited seven veteran financial advisors with near $970 million in assets on Tuesday. They transferred to the employee-owned firm, which is based in Milwaukee, from Citigroup (C), Morgan Stanley (MS), Charles Schwab (SCHW) and Wye Financial.

Also on Tuesday, Janney Montgomery Scott said it hired George Keith, formerly of a Connecticut-based investment firm, to become a complex manager in Darien.

The new Baird hires come on board the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Omaha and Easton, Md.

Fred Gartell joins in Ft. Worth, Texas, with about $425 million in assets from Charles Schwab.

The Narni Group comes to Baird from Morgan Stanley with some $330 million in assets. The team includes Jon Narmi, Charlie Narmi and Theresa Rynaski.

In nearby Dallas, the Belter Schaffler Group moved to Baird with roughly $130 million. The group’s advisors are Ken Belter and Will Schaffler, and they joined Baird from Citi (where major leadership changes are taking place).

Jim Vermilye came to Baird in Maryland from Wye Financial with some $85 million in assets.

Baird says it has added more than 250 financial advisors and branch managers to its Private Wealth Management group since early 2009.

Janney Hire

Janney said Tuesday that George Keith, an industry veteran of more than 35 years, is now a senior vice president and complex manager of the firm’s Darien, Conn., facility, which oversees nearby offices in Fairfield, Glastonbury and West Hartford.

George previously worked in senior management roles at AllianceBernstein, ScudderKemper and Fidelity, among others. He will report to regional manager Christopher Wilkinson.
