Best Performing Stocks Year To Date

The Russell 3,000, which compromises roughly 98% of investable US equities, is currently up just over 5% year to date. The average stock in the cap-weighted index is up much more than that at 8.24%, which means the smaller cap names in the index are doing better than the larger caps.

Below is a list of the 30 stocks in the Russell 3,000 that are currently up the most so far in 2012. These 30 stocks are also the only ones in the index that are up more than 50%. As shown, Inhibitex (INHX) ranks first with a gain of 131%. The next closest stock is Amicus Therapeutics (FOLD) at 88.37%, followed by Idenix Pharma (IDIX) and Dendreon (DNDN). The top four stocks on the list are all in the Health Care sector. Netflix (NFLX) ranks fifth with a year to date gain of 81.50%.
